Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. for Taft resident, Essie Jordan Berkey. Her son, Pastor Floyd Jordan, will officiate. Mrs. Berkey was born in Sallisaw, Oklahoma on April 13, 1928 and passed away in Bakersfield on April 16, 2012. She had lived in Taft for the last 56 years and was a member of the Church of God. Mrs. Berkey was a minister with the Church of God for many years and did evangelical work and sang in the church. She worked for a time as a nurse's aide at West Side District Hospital. Mrs. Berkey enjoyed fishing and shopping. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmie Dean Jordan, in 1988 and by her second husband, Robert Berkey, in 2010. Her survivors include her children and their spouses, Geraldine and Richard Hoffmann, Janet and Charles Alldredge, Floyd and Carol Jordan, Ronnie and Teri Jordan and Freda and Jack DeCamp; her grandchildren, Kellie Ratliff, Ronnie Crow, Lynna Rodmann, Michael L. and Chuck Alldredge, Jim Jordan, Eric and Jennifer Jordan, Juliana and Matt Holm, Jacinda and Rob Martin, Todd and Jennifer Jordan, Matt and Amy Oakes and Sher and Christy DeCamp; her great grandchildren, Nick, Corey, Zac, Nathan, Matt, Ronnie, Arron, Bryan and Tabitha Adams, Breanna and Cody Jones, Amber Alldredge, Kayla Alldredge, Hope Alldredge, Alex, Nick and Madison Jordan, Danica Jordan, Mickala Gilliespie, Zane and Zoie Martin, Tyler, Kaycee and Lexi Holm, Chloe and Kylee Logsdon, Matilyn, Payge and Autymn Oakes, Ashley and Ty DeCamp and Chesney Doak; her great great grandchildren, James and Owen Adams. There are no visitation hours scheduled and the services are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
