Wanda L. Hampton was born in Bristow, Oklahoma in Indian Hospital on May 19, 1932 to Sam and Nettie Dugger and passed away on April 23, 2012 in a Bakersfield hospital due to ill health. They moved to Coalinga, CA in 1944 and then to Taft, CA in 1949, graduating from both Coalinga High School and Taft Union High School in 1950. She worked as a telephone operator, secretary at Vandenberg Air Force Base and owner of Hampton's Machine Shop with her husband, Jack Hampton. After his death she and her sisters traveled on cruise ships to many foreign countries. She was admired by everyone especially her friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Nettie Dugger; husband, Jack Hampton; and sister, Maxine LeBarron, who lived with her for many years. Wanda is survived by her sister and her husband, Christine and Norman Arrington; nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Leslie and David LeBarron, Sam, Darby and Cindy (Arrington) and their children, Tyler, Clinton, Cameron, Drew, Taylor, Macey, Marley and Jacob. A memorial service will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel, 501 Lucard St., Taft, on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Rodney Wikoff will officiate and Mrs. Vicki Wikoff will be the soloist. Interment will follow in the West Side District Cemetery. A reception will be held at OT's Cookhouse, 205 N. 10th St., Taft following the burial. There are no visitation hours scheduled and the arrangements are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
