After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, Betty Dethloff has gone to be with the Lord. She is preceded by her sisters Celena bell Rogers and Artie Levindeski who she affectionally called “Shug” and “Sis.” She is survived by her husband, Kossie Dethloff, three children: Tammy Isbell, Teri Smith, and Gary Dethloff, and three grandchildren Kyle and Kirk Isbell and Holly Smith. Her service will be held March 8th at 10am at a graveside services at West Side Cemetery.

Thank you so much for being here. If Betty could be here today, she would greet each one of you and express her thanks for attending. And this was the way Betty was. She was kind, gracious, and known as a classy, faithful lady. She was a Christian and attended service every Sunday and spent her extra time doing charitable works with the church. She loved helping other people as much as she could.

As her family remembers her, they shared her love of chocolate. She particularly liked having the chocolate and rocky-road ice cream. Her nickname was “Betty Boop” for her love of the character. She loved to square dance and was always ready to get down and boogey. She liked listening to Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton or anything country western but liked listening to music and anything she could tap her toe to.

In her career, Betty proved to be good with numbers. She worked with Belridge Oil, the Water District, and Buttonwillow School District as a district secretary. I believe Kossie put it best when he said that she could do anything she put her mind to, and she proved she could time and time again. When Kossie purchased the Missouri Triangle, Betty and Kossie worked together to make the business successful.

Betty raised three children and came to have three grandchildren and loved spending time with everyone. Many of the family members noted how she was a wizard in the kitchen and could easily create the most amazing meal with enough for everyone. Her fried chicken was a favorite. She will forever be recognized for her pistachio and almond bark that Blackwell’s Corner still sells each day. The family loved playing a card game and Betty often won the game, much to her surprise. This response would keep everyone laughing and that is what she would want us to do today. She would want us to remember her for her wonderful way and beauty. May she rest in peace.
