Josephine Marie Sontag

Josephine (Jo) was born September 9, 1932 in Taft. She attended Taft schools except for 2 years while in Long Beach. She graduated from Taft High in 1950 and started working for Standard Oil in 1951 as a general office worker and later in the Engineering Department. She left Standard Oil in 1971 to work for Kern County Parks and Recreation Department in Bakersfield, then the Buena Vista Recreational Area; she retired in 2003.

Jo lived in the same home in Taft since 1946. She attended the Calvary Temple Church and is well known for her love of animals and desire to help people.

Jo is survived by her niece, Jacque Spiker (Roy), 2 grand nieces, Melinda Horsley and Laura Headley, grandnephew Greg Stiles, and 9 great grand nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday March 13, 2016 at 1 pm.
