Laverne (Smoot) Ezell Billingsley Carlton

LaVerne Smoot Ezell Billingsley Carlton, 89, of Bakersfield, born to William and Tempe Smoot in Baird, Texas February 12, 1929 passed away March 14, 2018.  She traveled Grapes of Wrath with her 9 siblings.  She attended Bakersfield High Schools and had a 35-year career with Chevron Standard Oil Company in Taft, CA.   She was part of the Bakersfield Ninety-Nine (Women’s Pilot), the Westside District Cemetery Board, Chevron Valley Credit Union, and Taft Pilots’ Association.  She is survived by two children; Wayne Ezell from Taft & Sandra Teitsworth of Laguna Beach, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  She truly led a life well-loved and will always be missed.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to West Kern Oil Museum.  A Graveside service will be held Tuesday March 20, 2018 at 1 PM at West Side District Cemetery in Taft, California.
