Molly Macrate Obituary

Molly Ann Macrate

July 23, 1952 – December 4, 2019

Molly lived her life in her terms, every step of the way.  She was born and raised in Long Beach, California where she gained her love for the ocean, growing up fishing, boating, and surfing.  She went to Brethren High School and graduated in 1970.  Her love of fashion design and the arts took her to school at Bauder Fashion College and Diablo Valley College where she met her first husband, Greg Mudge and started her family with the birth of their daughter, Pam.  Shortly after they returned to Long Beach where she had her two sons, Tom & Sam.  In 1983 the family moved to Taft where she has been a loyal resident ever since.  Here she met and married her second husband, Steve Burnham in 1990.  While they divorced they remained friends till his passing.  She graduated from Taft College with her AA and spent several years working at Taft College Children’s Center when it first opened.  She is currently a member of the West Hills Church of Nazarene. She loved to cook as well as bake her famous chocolate chip cookies for all birthdays and special occasions. Her most beloved hobbies were the various art projects she created throughout her life including ceramics, doll making, weaving, sewing.  Most recently she’s been a dedicated member of the quilting club.  Through the years she has received several awards for her artwork.

Molly is survived by her loving family which includes her mother Dorothy Woodbury Macrate, Mindi Macrate Barbee and Carli Macrate Steers; three children Pam Mudge, Tom Mudge, his wife Janette Mudge, and Sam Mudge; two step children, Carrie Burnham and Kyle Burnham; three grandchildren William Mudge, Ashtyn Mudge and Thomas Mudge and her two faithful four-legged companions Max & Sophie.
