Romero Jon (Rick) Moench

            Romero Jon (Rick) Moench, Judge, Retired, passed away 28 October 2018, three months shy of his 80^th birthday. Born 7 December 1938, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, his family moved to Vancouver, Washington, during the war years and later moved to Rio Dell, CA. in Northern California.

                He graduated from Fortuna High School and then attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he met and married Barbara Louise Harp who was also attending Cal Poly. Once she graduated, they moved to Arcata, CA.  where he finished his under graduate degree at Humboldt State University, then moved Eugene, Oregon where he finished Law School.

                They moved back to Northern California where he began work as a Deputy District Attorney in Humboldt County where he spent several years before moving to Bakersfield. He worked for several ore years as a Kern County Deputy District Attorney. He later became a Judge in Taft, CA. where he served until he retired for health reasons in 2008.

                He is survived by Barbara, his Wife of 57 years, Daughter Melissa Trunick (Bill,) Daughter Sarah Webb (Steve), Son Jon (Todd), daughter Ruth Arnell (Micheal) and Son Dan (Sachiyo). He has 16 Grandchildren and 3 Great- Grandchildren.

                He shared his love of reading, storytelling and music with everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

                Services will he held Friday November 2^nd, 2018 10:30 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2801 South Real Road, Bakersfield CA. 93309. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Wounded Warriors, Team Rubicon, your favorite Library or Charity of your choice would be Greatly appreciated.
