Adrian I. Maxwell, Jr., was born in Taft, December 18, 1925, and passed away peacefully, September 24, 2016, at his home in Taft.
He joined the Navy shortly after high school graduation in 1943, and served on the USS Porter from December of that year, until January 1946. He was also proud of his active service in the American Legion Post 63, serving in every office within the organization, over a 60 year period.
Adrian worked for Chevron, for over three decades, before retiring in 1985. His retirement years were filled with many trips in the motor home, especially to Graeagle, in northern California.
Egg, as he was affectionately known to his friends, was a good father, husband, and friend, teaching us many life skills, and helping us grow throughout our lives. He also had a unique sense of humor that we all enjoyed.
He is at peace now, after the last couple of years of declining health and mobility.
Adrian leaves behind many friends and family, who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Pat; his four children, Don, Tom, Sam and Gloria; Pat's four children, Ricky, Sue, Darin, Lance, and their families.
The family would like to thank the caregivers and the hospice team for all of their help.
A graveside service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Friday, September 30, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
