A funeral service will be held in New Hope Temple on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. for Amy Uvone Parker, 78. Burial will follow in the West Side District Cemetery. Rev. Rick Wilkerson will officiate. Mrs. Parker was born in Denton, Texas on May 17, 1937 and passed away at her home in Derby Acres on December 25, 2015. She came to the Taft area in 1977 and spent time working at Midway School. She and her husband, Frank, were both ordained ministers. They served at an orphanage, the Navaho Children's Home, in Gallup, New Mexico and in 1991 established the Remnant Team Evangelistic Association. For approximately 16 years, they were also part of the ministry that visited patients in the oncology section of KMC Hospital. Mrs. Parker is preceded in death by her son, Micky Wayne Parker and her daughter, Debrea Piper. Her survivors include her husband, Frank Parker; her son, Frank R. Parker both of Derby Acres; her brother, William B. Applin of Sacramento; her grandsons, Dan Hawkins and Matthew Bowden; her granddaughter, Shawna Marie; her niece, Theresa Cook; and many other nieces, nephews and friends. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
