Arlene Goodman Obituary

A funeral service will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. for longtime Taft resident, Arlene Goodman, 82. She was born on May 16, 1933 in Carter, Oklahoma to the late Roy and Annie Horton. She went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2016 peacefully at her home with her family by her side. Arlene grew up on a farm near a small town in Oklahoma; her family later moved to California. After attending nursing school in Arkansas, she met her husband, Lee, in Corcoran, California. She was a registered nurse at the West Side District Hospital for 26 years. She was dedicated to the hospital where she left an impression on anyone she came across. She was a one of a kind person and touched many lives. Arlene loved to travel the world with her friends. She also enjoyed sewing, oil painting, crocheting, gardening and most of all reading. She loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was dedicated to her grandchildren and her biggest joy was being able to watch them grow. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee Roy Goodman and her siblings, Cleo Horton, Ronald Horton, Lloyd Horton and Robbie Manuele. Arlene is survived by her son, Ronald Goodman of Taft; daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Susan Fisher of Taft; grandchildren, Charissa Fisher of Taft, Morissa Fisher and fiance, Colten Benson of Hartington, Nebraska, Brianne and her husband, Adam Taylor of Taft, Payton Goodman and fiance, Ryan Sexton of Taft, Christopher Goodman of Taft; and great-grandchildren, Zade Sexton and Makenna Benson; brothers, Bill Horton and wife, Barbara, of Makenzie Bridge, Oregon. Leo Horton and wife, Carolyn, of Taft; sister, Pat Brownfield and husband, Jim, of Tulare; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
