Betty Lou Martinez, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Ryan and Mary Ryan, her sister, Mary Ann Haligan and brother, Don Ryan. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Fred Martinez of Taft; her sons, Steve Martinez and his wife, Debbie of Taft and Gary Martinez of Cuyama; three granddaughters, Alicia Holland and husband, Bill, Stacy Lackey and husband, Mike and Ale Virgilio and husband, Tony; and eight great-grandchildren, Mariah Scovel, Seth Lackey, Brian Virgilio, Hunter Virgilio, Braden Holland, Taylor Virgilio, Steevie Jean Virgilio and Ryan Lackey. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Betty and Fred were one of the early families in the townsite of New Cuyama. They moved there in 1952 and lived there until 2009 when they moved back to Taft. They were charter members of the New Cuyama Assembly of God Church. A graveside funeral service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Monday, April 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Tom White, pastor of Cuyama Assembly of God, will officiate. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
