Betty Jo Paine

Funeral services will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. for former Taft resident, Betty Jo Paine, 80. Mrs. Paine was born in Spiro, Oklahoma on March 24, 1935 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 7, 2016. She made Taft her home until 2001 when she moved to Bakersfield. Mrs. Paine worked as a waitress at Hahn's for many years, and at Paik's Ranch House until she retired. She was an avid Bakersfield Condors fan, held season tickets for many years and watched every game home or away. She loved to watch football, but had favorite players not a specific team. She enjoyed going to Las Vegas, Laughlin and Eagle Mountain to gamble. Her biggest enjoyment was having her family over, eating and playing family games. She loved to watch Big Brother and Survivor with family and friends. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Bob Paine Sr.; son, Larry Maharrey; parents, Idus and Ocie Kelsey; brother, DJ Kelsey, sisters, Madge Woolbright, Laverne Embry, Mary Hahn and step-daughter, Dianna VanGundy. She is survived by son, Rick (Susie) Maharrey; daughter, Denisa (John) Halsell; step-son, Bobby (Tina) Paine and step-son-in-law, Lowell VanGundy; grandchildren, Erik Cash, Michael Maharrey, Breanna (Kevan) Giles, Nick (Kersti) Maharrey, Mellari (Jake) Fuller, Jarrett Paine, Brittany Maharrey, David Gragg, Jr. and great-grandchildren, Tazia Street, Brislynn Maharrey, Braydon Maharrey, Olivia Giles, and Riley Maharrey. All are invited to come to the viewing on Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m at Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
