A memorial funeral service will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. for Maricopa resident, Bonita Lewis, 91. Rev. Terra Penrose will officiate at the service. Burial will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on May 16, 2016. Bonnie, as she was called by friends and family, was born in Piggott, Arkansas to John Delbert Ezell and Nellie June Ezell, nee Kutchin. She passed way peacefully at her home in Maricopa, California from an age related illness, nearly reaching her 92nd birthday. During World War II she worked in a shirt factory in Missouri. She married Harvey Lewis in 1944 and then moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1952 and then to Taft in 1967 where she worked as a cook for Toppers, Hahns and the Oasis restaurants until retiring in 1991. She moved to Maricopa with her second husband, Leslie Penrose in the 1980s. Bonnie loved NASCAR and motocross races, sewing and crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harvey in 1970 and Leslie in 2005, six brothers and sisters, and son, John Robert Lewis in 1995. She is survived by her three brothers and two sisters; her three children, sons, Bill and James Lewis and daughter, Bonnie and her husband, Brock Soles; ten grandchildren and six known great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews. There are no visitation hours scheduled and the arrangement are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
