Burel Sexton Obituary

Burel Keith Sexton, 58, passed away peacefully in his home on January 22, 2025.

Born to Burel Carl Sexton and Virginia Mae Powell on September 8, 1966 in Taft, California. As a child Keith loved to ride motorcycles and play baseball. He graduated from Maricopa High School in 1984. Keith began his career with MH Whittier for 15 years, went on to work at Taft Union High School for 10 years, and concluded a 10 year career as an OTR Trucker.

Those who knew Keith, knew his love for baseball, especially his precious Dodgers! His love for baseball led him to coach both of his boys. Keith was also an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, barbecuing for his family and friends, shooting pool, throwing horseshoes, and golfing. But his most favorite pastime of all, was drinking an ice cold BEER!

Keith is preceded in death by his father Burel Sexton. He is survived by; his loving wife of 18 years, Brandy. His Mother, Virginia Queen. Children; Ryan Sexton and wife Payton, Rodney Sexton, David Woods, Jadeyn Leonard, Mariah Woods, and Emily Woods. Grandchildren; Deagen Speer, Lukiah Sexton, Zade Sexton, Aimer Woods, Tua Keila, Solomon Keila, Dominic Woods, Myles Leonard, Nova Sexton, Avery Sexton, Evangeline Hopkins, and Olivia Leonard. Siblings; Tamilee O’Neal, Shelly Brown and husband Rick. Nieces; Stacey Robles, Jennifer Medel, and Chelsey Chapman. Nephews; Eric Derington and Garrett Moore. Along with aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and many, many wonderful friends.

Keith will be remembered for his sense of humor, love for his family and friends, kindness, integrity, and generosity.  His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Please join us in remembering and celebrating Keith. A graveside service will be held on February 7th, 2025 at 1PM at West Side Cemetery, located at 440 E Cedar St. Taft, CA. Following the service, a celebration of life potluck will be held at The Taft Moose Lodge, 205 S 10th St. Taft, CA, where we will gather and share memories of the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.
