Charles Edward Harp, better known as Gabby, passed away August 25th, 2023, after reaching 85 years of age. Although his illness was sudden, he faced it in his cowboy way. Gabby was married to the love of his life for 64 years until Alta passed in 2021. Gabby never met a stranger. If you happened to be one, you were never one for long. Gabby worked hard all his life, starting at the age of 11. He graduated from Maricopa High School in 1956. He was a bus driver for Cuyama Elementary School for many years and retired from Caltrans.
Gabby will be lovingly missed and remembered by his children, Cheryl (Gary) Leaf, Jason (Alison) Harp, grandchildren, Shannon (Ronnie) Lemen, Jamie (Marley) Leaf, Ian (Andrea) Harp, Emily (Jeremy) Shelton, and Sidney Harp, great grandchildren Emma, Josiah and Harper Lemen, Charlotte and Henrik Leaf, Christian Harp, and Micah Shelton. Sisters Brenda (Joey) Haney, Carol Hudson, Joy (Ted) Burgess, Pamela (Jim) Mitchell, and brothers Glen Harp and Keith (Charlene) Ray and his blood brother, Doyle Gibson. He will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, September 5th, 4:00-7:00 pm at Erickson and Brown Funeral Home at 501 Lucard Street, Taft, California 93268.
Graveside service will be on Wednesday, September 6th, 10:00 am at West Side District Cemetery at 440 Bob Hampton Road, Taft, California 93268.
