Clifford Smith was born on August 24, 1957 in Taft and passed away from a yearlong battle with cancer in Bakersfield on April 4, 2024. Cliff was preceded in death by his father Mitchell Smith of Arkansas, mother Judy Smith of Taft, and brother Jonathan Smith of Taft. He is survived by his sisters Pam Wolfe of Tucson, Arizona and Patti Bench of Taft, and brother and wife, Richard and Amy Smith, both of Taft. Cliff loved all his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, but he had a special connection to his niece Brittany Ann, cousin Lisa Anglin, and family friend and caregiver Bonnie Rhoten.
Cliff graduated from TUHS in 1971. He worked at Driller Printers, Clark’s Tire Shop, and in the oil industry as a roustabout all in the Taft area. He spent a few years living in Arkansas and worked as a house painter before returning to Taft.
An avid bowler, Cliff also enjoyed fishing, trips to Eagle Mountain Casino and Tachi Palace, and poker night at his brother’s house. His true joy stemmed from watching his beloved Dodgers play ball.
As per his request, no services will be held.
