Edwin Oliver Mize was born in Oklahoma in 1937. He was the last surviving child of George and Lena Mize. He passed away in his home near Valley Acres on Sunday morning, July 14, 2024 at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Katherine, his sisters Arvella (June), Minnie and Merle, and his brothers Harvey, Delbert and George (DeWayne). He is survived by his three sons Michael, Patrick and Darrel, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. After growing up in central Oklahoma, his family moved to Bakersfield between his Sophomore and Junior years of high school. He attended and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1955. Two years later he married his wife Katherine Jeanette Presson. In 1964 he took a job with CWOD (later Santa Fe Energy) in Fellows, California where he worked for more than 35 years. His interests included hunting, fishing, photography, camping, tending his trees and spending time with his family. Viewing will be held between 10:00 and 11:00 at Erickson and Brown in Taft on Monday, July 22 with graveside services following at Westside Cemetery at Noon.
