Elmer was a leader in the community, he received a lifetime PTA membership award, and was a Little League coach. He served faithfully as a deacon in the First Southern Baptist Church for many years.
His charisma, love and humor have influenced his family and friends. His greatest love and passion was his family. His favorite hobbies included visiting yard sales, refinishing old clocks and furniture, and playing pinochle. He absolutely loved doing things with his grandchildren: fishing, playing games, building things or anything else the grandkids wanted to do. His love, caring, joking, laughing and his passion for sweets will be carried on through his family.
