Irvin Eugene Bonsal, JR. born June 25, 1948, passed away on March 26, 2026.
He was born to Irvin Eugene Bonsal (Blackie) and Laura Josephine Green.
Irvin graduated from Taft High School in 1966 and proudly served his country in the United Stated Marine Corps from 1967 to 1971.
Throughout his life, Irvin was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked in an autobody shop, spent time as an apprentice embalmer (reserve police officer with BPD), worked at a golf course, and dedicated forty-one years to Berry Holding.
Known as "Gene," to many, and lovingly called "Poppy," by his family, he was a man who valued hard work, loyalty, and time spent with those he loved most.
Above all, he was a family man. He survived by the Love Of His Life, Diane Bonsal of thirty-six years and children, Angela Dickson her husband Chris Dickson, Sabrina Bonsal, John-Paul Bonsal, and Jeremy Flint.
He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Smith, and his brother, Michael Bonsal.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley Downey her husband John Downey, Drea Kerr her husband Forrest Kerr, Jadeynn Flint, Easton Flint, and Brooklyn Flint and along with numerous other grandchildren.
He is further survived by his great grandchildren, Kristofer Downey, Kamiryn Downey and Kaysn Downey, Kylar Johnson, Kimber Kerr, Irvin Kerr and along with numerous other great grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Morgan "Hook," Sandy, and many more who were part of his life and brought him companionship and joy.
He will be remembered for his life of service, his commitment to his family, and the love he gave so freely to those who knew him. He was a Hero to all.
