A private graveside service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery for Jack K. Vaughan, 94. Mr. Vaughan was born on July 23, 1921 in Oakland, California and passed away on January 14, 2016 in Taft. Jack was a lifelong resident of Taft and attended local schools through Taft Junior College. During WW II he served his country as a U.S. Merchant Marine and was a deck engineer. He retired from Chevron Oil Company in 1983 as head electrician after 38+ years of service. Jack was a life member of Taft Elks Lodge and loved to play golf. He also enjoyed many years of hunting ducks and pheasants in the Willows and Colusa area of Northern California with his brother, Ted. Jack, who was never married, was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mae Vaughan, his brother, Ted and his sister, Noreen. His survivors include his daughter, Sheryl Stuhr; his grandchildren, Suzanne and Bill; his great-grandchildren, Emma, Carson and Quinn; and by his extended family, George, Yvonne, Alexis and Jeremy. There are no visitation hours scheduled and the arrangements are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
