Joe Walker

Funeral services will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. for Taft resident, Joe Robert Walker, 70. Burial will follow in the West Side District Cemetery. Mr. Walker was born in Myrtle Creek, Oregon on October 8, 1945 and passed away in Bakersfield on April 22, 2016. He moved to Taft in 1955. Mr. Walker proudly served his country in Vietnam as a member in the United States Army. His first love was teaching. He taught for awhile at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and spent most of his teaching career at Lincoln Junior High School teaching science, his favorite subject. Mr. Walker enjoyed gardening, traveling and taking trips with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Teresa Walker. His survivors include his brother and his wife, Carl and Linda Walker of Kernville and a special longtime friend, Vickie Summers of Taft. Friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. and again on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. to service time at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
