With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Katherine Lorri Achorn on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Hoffman Hospice Home in Bakersfield, California, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 65 years old.
Born on July 25, 1959, in Fresno, California, to Jerry and Betty Moore, Kathy lived a life defined by love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She had a heart of gold and an extraordinary gift for making everyone around her feel deeply cared for. Kathy gave endlessly of herself, always putting others before her own needs without hesitation or complaint. She always made time to listen, to comfort, and to bring light into our lives.
In a world that can so often feel unkind, Kathy reminded us of the goodness still left. Her warmth and kindness cannot be overstated she truly saw the best in everyone. If you needed her, she was there, often offering more than she had to give. That was who she was selfless, strong, and full of love.
Kathy found joy in life’s simple pleasures playing pool, cruising with her windows down and music turned up, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Debra (Husband Dennis) Hodge and Rick (Wife Karen) Moore; Kathy’s children, Derrick Thomas (Wife Teresa) and their son Jackson, Nicole Thomas and her children Joshua (who preceded her in death) and Paige, Austin Achorn (Wife Karely) and their daughter Sadie, and Brittney Dargusch (Husband Doug) and their son Xavier. Kathy was also a great-grandmother to Bryson.
Kathy’s legacy is one of unconditional love, strength, and compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held to honor her life. Saturday June 7th at the Taft Petroleum Club at 1:00PM.
