Linda Rae Lamas
5/15/1938-4/29/2025
On April 29th, 2025 the lord called Linda home after many years fighting cancer.
Linda was the 2nd born of 7 children to ben and Pauline Gillespie, raised on a farm south of Taft HWY on Ashe Road. On that same road lived the Lamas family. Linda became good friends of Barbara and Lola Lamas. That’s how she met her husband Donald. Don and Linda were married on 2/16/1956. Soon after their marriage, Don joined the U.S.A.F. and off they went to Loring AFB in Maine. Son, Donald Jr. was born while stationed in Maine. They were later transferred to Michigan where Joseph was born.
In September 1964, Linda and Don left the service, moved back to Bakersfield /Taft Area and began his career in the oil business. Linda not only took care of her 3 men, she worked for the Taft School District, fostered numerous children, and worked 20+ years as head of kitchen for New Hope Church in Taft.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, son Joseph, one sister and three brothers.
She leaves behind her husband Donald, son Donald Jr, 2 sisters, 2 sisters-in-law, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Linda was a good and faithful servant of the Lord and will be forever missed.
Graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, May 8th, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at the West Side District Cemetery located at 440 Cedar Street, Taft, CA. Reception to follow at Buena Vista Mobile Home Park Reception Hall, located at 123 North 10th Street, Taft, CA.
