Marcus Dewain George

Marcus Dewain George, 71, passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2021.  Born in Marshall Arkansas on August 29, 1950, son of the late Carlos and Retha George.

He is survived by children, Teresa Totty and spouse Randy of Jenks, OK, Christine Dickey and spouse Bryan of Oxnard, CA, and Michael George and spouse Brittaney of Taft, CA.  Grandchildren Chad and Haixia Totty, Derrik and Misti Totty, Brittney Totty, Bryan Dickey Jr, Brent Dickey, Cisco George and Jadyn George-Laulu, Michaela George, Amilia George, Aliece George and great grandchildren Portland George, Penelope George, and two that were on the way.  He is also survived by his 5 siblings, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dewain graduated from Carpinteria High School and moved to Taft California shortly thereafter.  He worked his entire adult life in the oil and gas industry in and around Taft and was proud to work right up to his 70th birthday!  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and left a legacy of those memories with his children and grandchildren.  Dewain was also an avid sports fan.  If he wasn't watching one of his own children or grandchildren play, you could find him watching the Taft High Wildcats or cheering on the Dodgers or one of his other favorite sports teams.  In his spare time at home, you would likely find him watching Gunsmoke or one of the many other westerns that he enjoyed. 

His family paid this tribute to him.  Dewain was always thinking of others before himself and will be greatly missed. 

Services will be held at Erickson and Brown Funeral Home – 501 Lucard St, Taft, CA with a viewing on Friday January 7, 2022 from 5-8 pm and Memorial Service Saturday January 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm
