Mary Margarette Cameron Sims was born in Taft, CA on June 30th, 1925 to John Duncan Cameron and Mary Luellen Dickson Cameron. She entered God's Kingdom last Saturday, June 3rd, 2023.
Mary Margarette (aka Mickey) spent her entire youth in the idyllic oilpatch community of Taft until meeting and marrying the love of her life Edward Sims on July 7th, 1949. They were united for 55 years until Eddie's passing in 2004. Together they were servants of the Lord: among many other evangelistic endeavors, they helped build churches in Africa, they taught Sunday school, they worked with troubled youth, and ultimately, they lead many to a saving knowledge of Jesus.
Ed and Mary made their home in Bakersfield, CA for the majority of their time together, where they ran their business - Razorback Oilfield Tools. In 1993, the two relocated to Muleshoe, TX, and remained there until Ed's passing in 2004. Mary subsequently returned to Bakersfield to be near family.
Aunt Mary Margarette was a vibrant, convivial lady who was loved by all. She was our family's prayer warrior and a wonderful ambassador for God's Kingdom. She will be sorely missed.
Mary Margarette was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Jerry Doyle Cameron, Beatrice Gibson, and Bernice Robinson, as well as her husband Ed.
She was a very special aunt to Mary Nishiyama, Judith Caudell, Susan Foster, and John Gibson. A special tribute to Cameron and Erika Gibson for dedicating their time and loving care during Mary Margarette's hospice stay.
We have no doubt you have gone to be with our Lord. We also know we will be reunited in God's time. We will always love and remember you, Aunt Mary Margarette.
