Myrtle Stacy Obituary

Myrtle (Mert) Fay Stacy

August 19, 1936 - March 30, 2022

She was born on August 19, 1936 in Locke, Arkansas to Dick and Myra Culp. She was the oldest of 12 children. When they came to California they settled in the Buttonwillow area where she met the love of her life, Chelca Stacy. They were married on June 19, 1953 and were married 57 years when Chelca

passed away in 2010. They had 3 children, Janice, Joyce and Dennis. She spent her children's early years at home raising them. She later went to work for Kern County Superintendent of Schools as a teacher’s aid in special education. She worked 26 years before she retired. She made 2 special friends during this time, Simona Rhoten and Juanita Rodriguez. They remained friends for the rest of her life.

Mert was preceded in death by her husband, Chelca, daughters, Joyce and Janice, parents, Dick and Myra, 5

brothers, John, Jerry, Isaac, Fred, and Alfred.

She is survived by her son Dennis and special daughter-in-law Melanie, special son-in-law James Lee, 4 grandchildren: Jamie Edwards (Nichole), Sean Ornelas, Kim Siason (Rosendo), and Jessica Mayes (Michael), many great grandchildren, 4 sisters: Dora Mosley, Nora Peterson, Betty Knight & Mary Culp and sister-in-law, Brenda Stacy. Also many nieces and nephews. She loved them all very much.

She wanted to give special thanks to her sister Dora, for taking care of her and to her great grandson Sean, for living with her and helping to take care of her.

She wanted to let all of her family know how much she loved all of them. Also thanks to Dr. Patel, Dr. Luis Cousin and Dr. Washington for their medical care of

her.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She always put everyone else's needs before her own. She suffered a lot during her last few years, and we are thankful that she doesn't have to suffer any longer, but we will miss her very much.
