A memorial service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. for Taft resident, Ruth Masters, 92. Mrs. Masters was born the second child of six to William H. Davis and Virgie A. (Frazier) Davis on January 27, 1923 in Texas County, Missouri. She was raised and educated in Licking, Missouri and Taft, California. She attended Taft Union High School and was a member of the class of 1942. She married James Morton Baker in 1941. Mrs. Masters was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for Swift Air Lines for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Baker; her parents; her brothers, Roy, Joe, and Bob Davis and her sister, Betty Blanco. Mrs. Masters is survived by her son, James H. Baker of Taft; her daughter, Georgia A. Murphy and her husband, Louis of Arroyo Grande; her sister, Wanda Russell of Taft; her two granddaughters, Denise Philby and her husband, Rich of Bainsbridge Island, Washington and Sandra McGrael and her husband Scott of St. Louis, Missouri; her great grandchildren, Austin Josenhans, Jake and Paige Philby all of Bainsbridge Island, Washington and Sarah McGrael of St. Louis, Missouri.
